Biography

Eszter Illés "With exceptional expressiveness, the concentrated beauty of her flute tone shone through in every register, as did her highly sensitive musical phrasing. The richness of her performance allowed her to fully identify with the musical language and style of the piece."
Malina János – 2020

"Her artistic character is defined by two seemingly opposing performance attitudes, both essential for an authentic musical interpretation. One is the broad, synoptic vision of the entire work, while the other is the attention to detail, carefully crafted with artistic precision. In her flute playing, a sensitivity to the smallest nuances of the music combines with a remarkable sense of proportion, necessary for confidently shaping the overall form of the piece."
Madarász Iván, composer – 2023

"The artist is not only present in the musical world as a performer but is also dedicated to nurturing talent and teaching. She places great emphasis on the role of cultural patronage, as supported by her Doctor of Liberal Arts dissertation. For her, artistic quality is indispensable, yet she views the necessary coexistence of the arts with state, business, or private sector support from a different perspective."
Fejes Krisztina, pianist – 2024

About me

I was born in 1981 to a family that loves art. My mother's paternal uncle is Sándor Végh violinist and violist, from whom I got my first instrument, and whose quality and teachings are eternal to me. I obtained my MA degree at the Ferenc Liszt University of Music in Budapest, then the doctorate DLA degree at the Faculty of Music of the University of Pécs. I focused my academic work on flute literature. In my doctoral dissertation, I researched the significance of Frederick II of Prussia in flute literature and his role as a patron of the arts. Over the years, I have continuously furthered my education. I received my diploma from the Budapest College of Communication in Arts & Business Management. I participated in courses taught by internationally recognized professors - Aurèle Nicolet, Sir James Galway, Motoaki Kato, Yossi Arnheim, Peter Lucas Graf. I edited the national magazine Fuvolaszó as a Board member of the Hungarian Flute Society. Amongst my published works are several articles in this and other magazines, as well as interviews with artists, and translated texts.

As an Artisjus award-winning flautist, I have participated in numerous concerts, festivals, charity events, as both a soloist and chamber musician; at church concerts, with famous orchestras, pianists and various instrumental chamber ensemble formations at home and across Europe. Next to voicing the very wide and rich classic repertoire of flute literature, I consider it important to be open to contemporary music and introduce the musical works of our time.

Teaching plays an important role in my profession, educating future generations of flutists. For several years I was a teacher at the University of Miskolc Bartók Béla Zeneművészeti Institute, the Conservatories of Music in Budapest and Nyíregyháza, and I also worked in elementary art education. In addition to my teaching activities, I also held courses and advanced training in Hungary and beyond our borders.

During my career, I spent several years working in public administration, focusing on arts management. At the State Secretariat for Culture, I was involved in overseeing various artistic fields, particularly in the sector of music. This role required a combination of artistic expertise and administrative experience to handle the complex tasks associated with sectoral management.
